This is such a beautiful article, Scott. It's lovely how you found your girlfriend and that you're still together after 3 years :). I agree that personal development and knowing who you are is critical. In hindsight it's clear to me why the relationship with my ex-partner couldn't work. She depended on me for all of her emotional needs and more (expecting me to take care of her cats when she was away, expecting me to be there for her 24/7) and want a relationship that's based on "I want you."
