Me neither. In my last 15 years I have tried almost every diet out there. Started with vegan in 2006 (not because of health but environmental concerns) and tried lc / keto as well for a few years. I could never "control" my weight on lc. Funny isn't it? I eat more carbs again now and I am way healthier for it too! (After a while on keto / vlc some people tend to show signs of metabolic downregulation, like brain fog, low energy etc. even if they eat sufficient / many calories...I was one of them). I have poured over many research papers and I am lucky to understand a lot of it (scientist myself). I have learnt so much the past years through experimentation and studying AND being active in various communities and what I have learnt is that there is a lot of dogma in the nutrition scene, and arguments get regurgitated by people who don't understand the science or follow a diet for a relatively short time and found health improvements. But there are many people who gravitate away from vegan AND low carb / keto diets because they found them unsustainable & have run into problems. I guess the best bet is still to eat natural, as little processed "frankenfood" as possible, laugh a lot, love a lot and lead an active lifestyle :)
Great article. Thank you for writing!
